7 Best and Worst Dressed in Black at 2018 British Academy Film Awards

All the attendees of the 2018 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) were encouraged to wear black as a stand against sexual assault, harassment and inequality in the entertainment industry. With the exception of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton), everyone followed the dress code. The  following were the best and worst dressed celebrities.

1. Jennifer Lawerence in Christian Dior Haute Couture gown

After not attending the show for the past five years, the 27-year-old actress made a stunning return to the BAFTAs in a black Dior Spring 2018 Couture tuxedo gown featuring contrasting white draped chiffon sleeves embroidered with organza flowers. She completed her ensemble with Charlotte Olympia Joyce shoes, a Roger Vivier flap clutch, and emerald stone earrings from Sylva & Cie.

2. Allison Janney in Bibhu Mohapatra gown

The 58-year-old American actress, who was named Best Supporting Actress for ‘I, Tonya’, donned a two-tone floor length dress from Bibhu Mohapatra’s Fall 2018 collection that left the fashion critics divided. She styled her gold long sleeve velvet gown with Messika jewelry and sandals from Stuart Weitzman. What are your thoughts?

3. Gemma Arterton in Alberta Ferretti Couture gown

The 32-year-old English actress was fabulosity from all sides in a dark pleated Alberta Ferretti Spring 2018 Couture gown. She styled her one-shoulder dress with Gina shoes, emerald stone Ara Vartanian jewelry, and a Jimmy Choo clutch. How do you like Gemma’s graceful look?

5. Anya Taylor-Joy in lace Dolce & Gabbana gown

The 21-year-old American-born Argentine-British actress did not leave much to the imagination in a sheer black lace embroidered dress from Dolce & Gabbana‘s Spring 2018 collection that she styled with black platform heels. Perhaps she should consider hiring a new stylist from Trunk Club or Stitch Fix?

The ‘Black Panther’ star looked glorious in her sleeveless black gown from the Elie Saab Fall 2017 Couture collection, black Betty sandals from Giuseppe Zanotti, and Gemfields jewelry.

The actress nearly caused a wardrobe malfunction after stepping on her Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture gown that she styled with shoes from the same fashion house, Harry Winston jewelry, and a Boîte de Nuite satin clutch bag from Roger Vivier. How do you like her black embellished number?

Alessandra Ambrosio Rocks Balmain Resort 2018 Ensemble to VMAs

There was no shortage of risque outfits and outrageous ensembles at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. When it comes to the VMAs, anything goes, which gave us a host of outfits to enjoy. The sheer trend was alive and well courtesy of Demi Lovato and Vanessa Hudgens. Millie Bobby Brown opted for a quirky yet darkly romantic ensemble, while Yara Shahidi just couldn’t seem to decide on a look — so she went for two of them.
Alessandra Ambrosio is another red carpet pro who turned heads at this year’s star-studded awards ceremony. Alessandra, known for her dangerously sexy red carpet looks, decided to switch it up in a black-and-white Balmain Resort 2018 ensemble. This look was far more covered up than we’re used to seeing from the Victoria’s Secret Angel. Nevertheless, she looked stunning, and she totally rocked this look.
The 36-year-old supermodel wore a collared mini dress with long sleeves, cut-out details, sheer panels and intricate embroidery. She squeezed her mile-long legs into a pair of statement boots that extended up to her thighs. These leather shoes feature a lace-up style, a peep-toe silhouette and a laser-cut pattern. Minimal makeup and a high ponytail ensured that the focus would be on Alessandra’s eye-catching outfit.

Balmain Campbell boots

There is no doubt that Alessandra can pull off any look — she can easily go from casual-cool to sultry elegance without batting an eyelash.
Case in point, Alessandra looked sporty chic just the day before the VMAs. Her model-off-duty look consisted of a Cotton On muscle tank, tiny black shorts and a sweatshirt tied around her waist. Alessandra added a bit of sparkle to her casual look with Anita Ko earrings, a Jacquie Aiche diamond necklace, a Cartier bracelet and a Rolex watch. She completed her look with the Coach Swagger shoulder bag and crisp white Nike Juvenate sneakers.

A few days before that, Alessandra looked utterly chic in a Dhela Spring 2017 two-piece ensemble. She went out for lunch at The Ivy in a cropped off-the-shoulder top and matching high-waisted maxi skirt. Alessandra accessorized with an assortment of Jacquie Aiche necklaces, Alexis Bittar earrings, a Cartier bracelet and a Rolex watch. She rounded out her look with the Chloe Drew shoulder bag and a pair of brown suede sandals.
The Brazilian stunner’s Gianvito Rossi sandals feature criss-cross straps and block heels. They were the perfect complement to Alessandra’s effortlessly sophisticated summer look.

Olivia Palermo Fronts Pretty Ballerinas Spring 2018 Campaign

Have you seen the Spring 2018 campaign of Pretty Ballerinas? Fashion-forward Olivia Palermo is fronting the latest campaign for the footwear label that launched in 2005, and has since carved a niche in the industry for its masterfully crafted footwear.
For the collection’s collaboration, Olivia handpicked eight distinct shoe styles for the campaign, which echoed her own aesthetic. Styled by Jillian Magenheim, the photoshoot also included pieces from brands such as Carolina Herrera, Citizens of Humanity, Athleta, Johanna Ortiz, Valentino and Zimmermann.

2. Lady Gaga in Towering Pleaser Boots

Last year the American singer, songwriter, and actress rocked Pleaser USA’s “Flamingo 3000” platform patent boots, and she picked another pair of towering heels from the same brand this year that you can shop at Amazon. The 31-year-old entertainer, who was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘Joanne’, stole the spotlight in a custom Armani Privé lace gown that oozed style and grace. Lady Gaga also wore a white rose prominently on her shoulder to show support for the Time’s Up movement. She finished off her dark romantic ensemble with black jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz.

3. Miley Cyrus in Crystal PVC Sandals

Like Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus accessorized with a long-stem white rose in support of Time’s Up. Miley Cyrus has softened her look recently, and looked chic and sophisticated in a black Jean-Paul Gaultier Fall 2007 Couture jumpsuit. However, we can’t say we love the toe overhang in her crystal PVC sandals. Perhaps Miley should learn how to keep shoes from slipping off your feet?

4. Rita Ora in Pointy-Toe Christian Louboutin Pumps

The 27-year-old Brit looked fabulous on the red carpet in a velvet dress from the Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture collection featuring a soaring thigh-high split and ended up flashing more than she had bargained for. Rita Ora oozed sex appeal in her one-shouldered dress and accessorized with a white rose adorned to her bodice, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and black pointy-toe Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ shoes.

5. Chrissy Teigen in Gianvito Rossi Portofino Sandals

The 32-year-old American model showed off her baby bump on the red carpet with her husband John Legend. It was just announced that they are expecting a baby boy. Chrissy Teigen looked super pretty and radiant in a showstopping YANINA Couture dress featuring a waistband. She styled her striking metallic dress with Lorraine Schwartz earrings, a silver metal clutch from Tyler Ellis, and Gianvito Rossi‘s popular Portofino sandals that we also spotted her wearing in 2016.

6. Anna Kendrick in Powder Pink Casadei Pumps

The 32-year-old ‘Pitch Perfect’ actress also wore a white rose in solidarity with the Time’s Up movement. Unfortunately, Anna Kendrick ended up looking underdressed in a plaid suit from the Balmain Pre-Fall 2018 collection. The 7 Best Shoes Celebrities Wore to Stella McCartney’s Autumn 2018 Presentation

There must’ve have been a shoe memo handed out prior to the Stella McCartney Autumn 2018 collection presentation because it seems like every other attendee was either wearing the label’s “Elyse” creepers or some close reiteration of them. Apparently, Katy Perry didn’t get the memo but she’s always been one for doing your own thing.
As for the celebrities who showed up in the “Elyse” platform oxfords, we have to give them credit. Most managed to make their looks come across as unique, despite the fact that just about everyone was wearing the same pair of shoes.

Kate Hudson didn’t wear the popular “Elyse” creepers, but her pair-of-choice did feature similar ripple platform soles. With her now slightly grown-out pixie cut, the “Bride Wars” actress gave her white ruffled blouse and delicate-pink faux-leather jacket-and-skirt coordinates a modern edge.

3. Paris Jackson’s massive Stella McCartney “Monster” boots.

Paris Jackson towered high over everyone else in a pair of massive Stella McCartney Monster black-faux-leather chelsea boots with white rubber platform soles. The up-and-coming model paired them with a semi-sheer striped sweater dress and an interesting red oversized belt bag.

4. Kate Mara’s burgundy-patent Stella McCartney “Elyse” creepers.

Sporting a black short-sleeved blazer dress, Kate Mara could’ve gone with brighter-colored footwear but she went for the dark oxblood hue of the “Elyse” creepers instead. The “Fantastic Four” star completed her look with a simple half-up ponytail, a chain-strapped black bag and black nail polish.

Amy Poehler opted to stay comfortable and chose the sportier Sneak-Elyse platform trainers. She kept things fun by choosing the metallic silver colorway and pairing them with a love-print blouse and black cropped pants.

2018 Kids Choice Awards Orange Carpet – 6 Best Shoes
